bloomington road construction
this has been an ongoing inconvenience and hassle as the city is reconstructing all of bloomington drive, roughly a 3 mile loop around. this is the main road in bloomington that people drive on everyday to get in and out of bloomington. there are delays every morning and different detours everyday. while it is nice that the road will be new, it is an annoyance and obstacle for many people.
edits: I used VSCO to edit all of my photos. I stayed true to all of my colors and used the editing app to only enhance them.
context
physical: this construction is happening all the way around the bloomington circle. it is the main road in the area and with all of the physical changes and all of the work that is going on, it can make it very hard to get around. all of my photos are the physical representations of the job sites and project that are taking place all along the road.
psychological: i am taking these photos as a person who experiences this construction everyday. it is something that we have come to have to plan around and expect delays and alternate routes. the psychological context of this can be seen as frustrating, upset, excited, hopeful, or inconvenient. those are only a few of the things that people may be experiencing in the psychological context. the pictures show how these tractors, construction workers, and detour signs are effecting the members of bloomington psychologically.
cultural: bloomington is weird. the majority of people that live in bloomington have lived here a long time. they like things a certain way and that is just how things are. if they don't want something, it's not going to happen, and if they do want something, they're going to get it. and this is the case with this reconstruction. the road has needed it for the past 20 years, and bloomington is finally getting what they want.
social: this is something that is happening to the community as a whole. it is something that effects everyone but will also benefit everyone as well.
temporal: this job is big. this is a job that is going to take a very long time. i wish that i could have better represented the time line in these photos. i did try to show different parts of the construction zone to show that it is spread out along the loop.
